There is a particular kind of hunger that only craves seafood, and Conyers, bless its strip-mall heart, knows how to answer the call. Around here, we measure a restaurant by its fried shrimp and its sweet tea, but the spectrum runs from the serious, Gullah-inspired cooking at Coaxum's to the gloriously messy, shell-cracking chaos of The Juicy Crab.

I have eaten a lot of mediocre catfish in my day, so when Bayou Seafood nails the seasoning on every single plate, it earns a permanent spot in my rotation. One place even served me a curried chicken so good I nearly forgot I was there for the fish.

Consider this your map to the good, the salty, and the one spot you should probably skip.

Authentic Jamaican flavors shine
Generous portions for value
Friendly service near closing
Curry chicken earns praise
Popular despite one stumble

I walked into Fisher's Kitchen LLC with the sort of hunger that makes decisions dangerous, and left with the kind of satisfaction that makes memory cling. The curry chicken arrived like a slow reggae beat, warm and confident, and the portions were not shy. Even near closing, the service carried a friendliness that felt earned, not performed. One dish stumbled, but that felt like a fluke, a tiredness at the end of a long shift. The rest of the table sang. If you want Jamaican soul in Conyers, this is where you start.

Drinks and service both shine
Kids are welcomed warmly here

Frank's Restaurant feels like a family fish fry that forgot to end. The staff greeted me like a cousin I hadn't seen in years, and the drinks never sat empty. But the real revelation was the country fried steak, a phenomenon of crust and gravy that made me forget I came for seafood. Kids ran around, welcome and loud, and no one minded. The service shone like the sun through a kitchen window. Go hungry. Leave happy. That is the whole equation.

Return-worthy, time and again

Las Flores is a seafood place that understands the sea is only half the story. The seasoning was on point, and the margaritas were perfect, which is a sentence I do not write lightly. Alex explained every dish with the patience of a teacher and the pride of a chef. Jessica made the whole meal divine, a word I reserve for rare evenings. I have returned since, and I will return again. Time does not wear down good service or good salt.

Knowledgeable menu recommendations
Worth a return trip

The Juicy Crab delivered exactly what a celebration requires: loud, messy, and unforgettable. Vinny, our server, was stellar, guiding us through the menu with knowledge that felt personal, not scripted. The food arrived as a glorious mess, and the sides were sour in a way that did not offend, just confused. It is not a quiet dinner. It is a gathering. I will go back, not for the subtlety, but for the joy of cracking shells with people I love.

Lively live music ambiance
Gullah-inspired Southern cooking

Coaxum's Low Country Cuisine brought the Lowcountry to Conyers with a rhythm I could feel. The blackened catfish was blackened with purpose, and the sweet potatoes tasted like home, if home had a better oven. Angell took care of us with an attentiveness that bordered on clairvoyance. The oysters Rockefeller were a rich, briny delight. Live music filled the room, and the Gullah-inspired cooking filled the gaps. I left humming and full.

Highlights
Friendly staff, generous with closings
Honey ranch wings worth doubling
Fried rice earns its praises
Crispy fries, perfectly cooked
Family-owned, reasonably priced

The Grub Shack is a family-owned operation that knows its strengths and works them. The staff were friendly enough to keep the doors open a little longer for me, a kindness I do not take for granted. The honey ranch wings were so good I ordered a second batch, and the fried rice earned every bit of its praise. The fries came out crispy, the way fries should be but rarely are. Prices stay fair, which is its own kind of hospitality.

Highlights
Dismal fried shrimp quality
Frozen crawfish disappointment
Bland sides, no seasoning
No refunds offered

I want to be fair, but Crawfish Seafood Market makes fairness difficult. The fried shrimp arrived dismal, pale and apologetic. The crawfish tasted of freezer burn, a frozen disappointment that no seasoning could revive. The sides were bland, a study in absence. When I asked about a refund, the answer was a flat no. I left with a full wallet and an empty stomach. This is not a recommendation. This is a warning.

Attentive, knowledgeable server

Red Lobster is a chain, but this one runs like a family operation with better biscuits. The bread arrived hot and fresh, a small miracle that set the tone. Craig, our server, was exceptional, attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without lecturing. The food came quick and tasted better than a Tuesday night deserves. The staff seated us promptly, which is rarer than it should be. I came for shrimp and left with respect for a well-run room.

JD Crawfish New Orleans Seafood does not waste your time. The fried shrimp arrived hot, fresh, and legitimate, a simple promise kept. The prices undercut the competition, and the perfect health score made me feel less guilty about the extra tartar sauce. The turnaround was fast, satisfying, and efficient. I will make the return trip, and I will bring friends. This is what a seafood stop should be: honest, hot, and worth the drive.

Food arrives piping hot
Jessica's service stands out
Live music, very loud
Crab boil, sausage too salty

Rockin Crab Seafood & Bar announces its rules before you sit down, a mandatory tip posted upfront like a contract. The food arrived piping hot, but the crab boil came with sausage that leaned into salt like a sailor into a storm. Jessica, our server, stood out like a lighthouse in the noise. The live music was very loud, which is fine if you plan to shout your order. I left with ringing ears and a full belly. Choose your battles.

Great playlist, albeit loud
Worth a return visit

Virgil's Gullah Kitchen & Bar Conyers brought authentic Gullah flavors to a lunch hour I did not expect to remember. The staff greeted me with a warmth that felt regional, not rehearsed. The playlist was excellent, though loud enough to make conversation a negotiation. I ate, I nodded along, I smiled. The food carried the weight of tradition without the heaviness of pretense. I will return, perhaps with earplugs, but I will return.

Highlights
Perfectly seasoned, never salty
Fast, friendly owner service
Fresh vegetables and buttered corn
Notable fried catfish and scallops
Great turkey necks from home

Bayou Seafood is the quiet champion of Conyers. The owner served me with speed and a smile, and the food arrived seasoned perfectly, never salty. The fresh vegetables and buttered corn were not afterthoughts; they were companions. The fried catfish and scallops did everything right, crisp outside, tender inside. And the turkey necks tasted like they came from a home kitchen, which they probably did. This is the place I will go when I want a meal that feels like a hug.
